E-mate Summary
The E-mate technology encompasses both a proprietary low-cost Internet appliance (or E-mate software-enabled device such as a PDA) and an Internet-based service. Combined, the technology permits subscriber senders to deliver fax or other hardcopy documents over the Internet to an email address utilizing the subscriber's existing standard fax machine. A recipient views the document as an image file in the ordinary course of retrieving and viewing their email. This capability is significant in that the technology makes the 100+ million installed-base of fax machines instantly "email compatible" for sending hard-copy documents directly to recipients who have email. E-mate's technology is a sender-based service, which differentiates its technology from competitive receiver-based services offered in the market today.
The E-mate technology allows for seamless and simple document-to-email communications, enabling the recipient to retrieve and view the original document image as a standard email file. The recipient does not need any hardware, software or service that is not already provided by the recipient's email provider. E-mate is designed to utilize email as the means to deliver fax and hardcopy documents.
